Preparation Lesson for KidzFest

(Click here to download this page as an MS word document)

This is a simple lesson that you can use with your kids, to help get them excited about KidzFest, encourage them to bring others along and help them to pray for their friends.

Bible Passage
John 1 v 41

“Andrew went to find his brother, Simon, and told him, “We have found the Messiah.”

Treasure Hunt Game
Hide some treasure in the room and give the children a set of clues that will help them to find it.
Application: When you found the hidden treasure you wanted to tell everyone and show it to them. The Bible tells us that being a Christian is a precious gift from God. It used to be hidden but now has been revealed to us through Jesus. If we love Jesus we should want to tell other people about how special He is. The Bible tells us that when Andrew realised who Jesus was, he was excited and went to find his brother to tell him.

Questions
Are we excited about telling other people about who Jesus is?
Do we find it hard to tell people about Jesus? Why?
How can God help us to tell other people about Jesus?

Operation Andy Activities
Think of some friends who don’t know Jesus and begin to pray for them each day.

List some ways you can be a good friend to them. Get the children to write their ideas on a piece of paper and then discuss them in their groups.

Invite your friends to KidzFest! Design invites, the children can make personal invitations for KidzFest that they can then use to invite their friends along to the event.

Pray write a prayer for your friends. Tape a large piece of paper to the floor and give each child a marker.  Ask them to write a prayer for their friends somewhere on the piece of paper. When they have finished, the paper can be pinned or stuck to a wall so that everyone can see the prayers. Spend some time praying for KidzFest and ask the children if they would like to pray for their friends.

Distribute Operation Andy Cards to the children.
